EFFICENCY RATINGS

Solid Contaminants:

Did you know?

puraDYN® bypass oil filtration systems have proven to be 100% efficient at removing solid contaminants from oil.

•••

Solid particles in the
5 to15 micron range cause the most engine wear.  Luckily, puraDYN® systems filter down to below 1 micron.

•••

As a result of having
to meet stricter government standards for exhaust emissions, more contaminants are “dumped” into the oil.

•••

puraDYN® systems are highly efficient at removing both water and fuel from oil.

How does the puraDYN® system remove 100%** of the contaminants?

puraDYN® filter elements contain media treated with an advanced process for chemical grafting (CGP®) designed to remove solid contaminants to less than one micron by chemically attracting and bonding them to the filter media.

This advanced patent-pending filtration method was developed by puraDYN’s engineers as an effective way to remove the higher volumes and smaller particles of soot being generated by newer engines. These particles are too small to be adequately removed by traditional filtration media or centrifuge devices.

Comparative Testing

Testing was conducted by a leading independent engine and oil research laboratory to further demonstrate the puraDYN’s ability in removing solid contaminants smaller than one micron.

FILTER CAPACITY AND CONTAMINANT REMOVAL
PER SAE HS806-95 (MODIFIED)*
CONTAMINANT I.D.: ISO FINE TEST DUST
Filter Brand Test Time Filter Efficiency
puraDYN® 100 hrs. 92.05 %
Centrifugal 100 hrs. 67.47 %

Comparison tests were performed during 11/2000.

NOTE: The puraDYN® CGP® filter element was not used during the comparison test.  An additional test of a CGP® treated puraDYN® filter on 11/26/2001 showed 100% efficiency after 200 hours.

In addition, the US Department of Energy has been using the puraDYN® system in ongoing tests since 2002 to evaluate the performance, benefits and savings analysis of bypass oil filtration technology. To date, results of the study indicate that there is an estimated 80% savings in oil using the bypass oil filtration systems.  The quarterly results can be found at http://avt.inel.gov/obp.html
