Operating Conditions:

• Stop-and-go driving
• Excessive idling
• Heavy engine loading

Primary Contaminants:

Soot
Solids
Water
Fuel
New engines are and will continue to dump more contaminants in the oil to reduce the exhaust emissions.

Did you know?
Solid particles in the
5 to15 micron range cause the most engine wear. Luckily, puraDYN systems filter contaminants below
1 micron.

Reduce new oil purchases by up to 90%

Transit engines produce greater amounts of both solid and liquid contaminants due to their continual stop-and-go schedules.  These engines typically run hotter and oil becomes contaminated much faster resulting in more frequent oil drains.  but what if you could keep your oil clean instead of changing it?

Technology from Puradyn will keep engine oil constantly clean while in operation, dramatically extending the time between oil changes by thousands of miles.

Simply put, if the oil is clean and additives are maintained, it does not need to be changed.  Below are a few real-life success stories in the transit industry. . . .

TRANSMILENIO
SI99 is the operator of the transportation system TRANSMILENIO in Bogota, Colombia. Since 2002, SI99 has used puraDYN systems on its fleet of Mercedes Benz articulated buses. Subsequently, other TRANSMILENIO operators SI02 and SI03 installed the puraDYN system on buses and transmission,s, bringing the total number of puraDYN systems used by TRANSMILENIO to 700.

Currently, the one TRANSMILENIO fleet of 167 buses has traveled 42 million kilometers with the puraDYN systems.  Maintenance personnel and executives of SI99 verified a monetary savings over 80% in oil consumption.

The chart below shows the significant extension in oil drain intervals:

AVIS BUDGET GROUP

In 2008, Avis Budget Group announced the puraDYN system would become standard equipment on its North American fleet of nearly 300 heavy-duty airport shuttle buses as a proactive step in reducing motor oil use and oil-related bus engine maintenance by as much as 90%.

Avis Budget is the first in the car rental industry to add an oil filtration system to its fleet of buses.

U.S. DEPARTMENT OF ENERGY (DoE)

A three-year evaluation (2002-2005) of bypass oil filtration technology was conducted by Idaho National Laboratories (INL) for the US DoE's Freedom Car and Vehicle Technologies Program.

The puraDYN system was selected as the test manufacturer for the duration and used on eleven four-cycle diesel engine buses accumulating 982,548 test miles.  The oil selected for the evaluation was Shell Rotella-T, 15W-40.

When extended oil drain intervals are discussed, practitioners often attempt to increase the service interval mileage, such as going from 12,000 miles to 15,000 miles.  INL researchers in the evaluation did not extend (increase the interval mileage oil change intervals by a fixed amount, but instead repeatedly avoided (or skipped) the bus service intervals.

Another way to measure the success of bypass oil filtration is to look at the number of oil changes avoided and calculate the percentage of oil saved.  In calculating the percentage of oil saved, the mechanical oil changes were not used, but the number of avoided oil changes was divided by the total service intervals.

Of a total of seventy-two bus engine oil servicing events occurring during the evaluation, 64 oil changes were avoided by using the oil

bypass filter systems.  The 64 avoided oil changes mean 2,164 quarts (541) gallons of new oil was not consumed nor generated as waste oil.

This equates to an 89% reduction in oil change oil use and a concurrent 89% avoidance of waste oil generation.

Don’t forget!
puraDYN systems work just as well on hydraulic systems, which often times cost more to maintain than engines. Best of all, this technology is not expensive. Return On Investment (ROI) is the key to increasing profits. puraDYN filtration systems can pay for themselves within the first year. Most companies already have the price of the puraDYN system paid for in their maintenance budget, requiring no additional capital investment.
